Three defensive players and one offensive player will not return to LSU in 2014, and all four were a part of LSU’s 2012 signing class.

Offensive lineman Derek Edinburgh, linebacker Lorenzo Phillips and defensive backs Jerqwinick Sandolph and Derrrick Raymond are no longer a part of the team, according to multiple reports.

Sandolph has joined the Southeastern Louisiana team, and he’s eligible to play next season. Phillips saw the most action of the four who left, and he left for academic reasons to JUCO. However, he hopes to return to LSU in the future. Former safety Micah Eugene, who was dismissed from the team, will also enroll at Southeastern Louisiana.

The Tigers have been ravaged by the NFL Draft the last two years and currently only have 18 commitments. In total, LSU will lose 25 players from the 2013 team, and the NCAA allows a maximum of 25 signees per recruiting class.

  • I really wish the best for Phillips and hope can rejoin the team. He is a talented player and could really help out in a year or 2. The others would’ve never seen the field and I’m really disappointed that Micah Eugene , he was a solid player blitzing from the Nickel spot and on special teams, however he will be easy to replace
