JUCO transfer Jeremy Liggins isn’t your typical 300-pound player, and he’s actually listed at 296 on Ole Miss’ spring roster. He can play quarterback or…defensive tackle. Try finding that type of versatility. Heck, Liggins could probably play safety if he needed to, because he’s a rare athlete who’s gifted with speed and agility.

Ole Miss has a major need to replace Barry Brunetti, Bo Wallace’s backup in 2013. Hugh Freeze is looking for a dual-threat signal caller who can be a weapon in the running game and make some throws when necessary. That’s what Brunetti did, and that’s what Liggins hopes to provide. Liggins will also help with depth at tight end this spring, and he gives Hugh Freeze and the offense options.

He’s not quite as big as former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen is now, and Lorenzen was still playing at 320 pounds before he was injured last month. And Liggins can really move for a big guy, as you can see from the highlight film above.
