LSU defensive back plans to transfer

NCAA Football: Auburn at Louisiana State

Backup cornerback Kavahra Holmes said via Twitter that he won’t return to the team this fall, and LSU confirmed he would transfer.

“Its been great LSU, but its a new start of my life.. Thanks to all the coaches and fam here! DBU i will hold it down! Yall remember that,” he tweeted, which has since been deleted.

Holmes has been practicing with the team this spring, and he didn’t record any stats in 2013. He was arrested last October for simple battery. Holmes was also a track star and one of the fastest players on the team.

Holmes becomes LSU’s sixth player to leave the team this offseason. The most recent was quarterback Stephen Rivers, who recently announced his intentions to transfer to another SEC school.

  • It’s interesting LSU is losing several transfers. It happens every year, but they have been killed by the draft the last two years. LSU has recruited well, but it will catch up to them one year. Is this the year?

  • Any prospect where he is headed? The inclusion of Rivers almost alludes it’s another SEC school.
