South Carolina had hope that Kwinton Smith would develop into a big-time player for Steve Spurrier’s offense, but it looks like that will never happen.
The 6-4, 202-pound receiver Smith will transfer from the program, as first reported by The Big Spur. He’s currently home and weighing his options on where to transfer, with the most likely destination being James Madison.
Smith was a highly coveted in-state four-star prospect, but he struggled to break into the receiving rotation. He was ruled academically ineligible for the 2014 Capital One Bowl, and he caught just five passes for 42 yards last season.
