SDS talent evaluators Jon Cooper and Brad Crawford spent several months breaking down last year’s highlights, incoming talent and projected 2014 impact following spring practice to compile a list of the SEC’s Top 100 players heading into fall. Athletes were selected by position then ranked overall counting down to No. 1.
Stick with SDS throughout summer and get in on the action using the hashtag #SDSTop100 as we unveil a new player daily leading up to opening night on Aug. 28.
65. Lucas Vincent, Sr., DT, Mizzou
The second of three Mizzou defensive linemen in our Top 100, Vincent saw action in every game his first two seasons playing behind all-league talent and future NFL Rookie of the Year Sheldon Richardson before earning a starting role as a junior.
Vincent’s expected to be Mizzou’s top interior lineman this fall in a skilled front seven featuring pass rushers Markus Golden and Shane Ray. While those two command additional help off the edge, Vincent hopes to take advantage in 1-on-1 situations as an impact player. A fifth-year senior, Vincent has played in each of Mizzou’s 39 games since the start of the 2011 season.
Lined up next to fellow starting tackle Matt Hoch, Vincent will undoubtedly register a career high in tackles and more than double his previous combined sack total during his final season.
2013 statistics: 34 tackles, 5 TFL, 1.5 sacks
2014 projection: 43 tackles, 6 TFL, 3.5 sacks
