Safety/receiver Marqui Hawkins will transfer from Florida, according to The Sun.
The Georgia native entered Florida as a three-star receiver, but he was moved to defensive back this spring. However, Hawkins wants to play receiver at his next stop. He did not play during his 2013 redshirt season.
“I’m just looking for a better opportunity and somewhere I can play offense. I’d also like to be closer to home,” said Hawkins.
Hawkins said Florida granted his release with no restrictions on where he can actually transfer. That’s a classy move by Muschamp, as coaches usually restrict where players can and can’t transfer unless it’s a personal matter with players with special conditions.
“I had a great time at Florida and learned a lot,” he said. “Nothing against the school, I just needed a fresh start.”
