Mississippi State’s coaching clinic to feature former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron


If you think Ed Orgeron won’t take off his shirt and start chanting ‘Wild Boys’ at Mississippi State’s coaching clinic, you don’t know him well enough. He’ll do anything to make you better, as a player or coach.

MSU defensive coordinator Geoff Collins tweeted out a photo of Ed Orgeron as the Bulldogs’ featured guest speaker for their coaches’ clinic, as Coach O led Ole Miss’ program for three years and won just one Egg Bowl.

  • It still baffles me that we ever hired this guy as a head coach. Good defensive line coach, probably would be a solid D. Coordinator, and is definitely an excellent recruiter. However, a head coach he is not.

    I guess since State is having him speak, we’ll now have to hire the Kang, Mr. Jackie Sherrill, to come speak at Ole Miss. I’m sure he’d be happy to…..

    • I’m a little worried about the reasoning. Coach O didn’t exactly have the best time at Oxford. I met him right after he was canned at the Kroger in Oxford. He was pretty beaten by the whole situation. Also Ole Miss isn’t well known to have treated their coaches well…

      Coach O was an excellent recruiter. You saw what his recruits did for Coach Nutt. They carried him to two great seasons before his own failures as a recruiter started showing.
