Penn State reportedly set to offer head coaching job to Vanderbilt’s James Franklin

NCAA Football: Compass Bowl-Vanderbilt vs Houston

CoachingScoop.com reported Penn State plans to offer Vanderbilt’s James Franklin the head coaching position, and there’s every reason to believe he will accept the job.

Franklin would be a terrific hire for Penn State, and selfishly, I want him to stick around the SEC to see just how high he can take Vanderbilt, but knowing the competitor he is, he wants to accept a job where has a chance to win a national championship. Doesn’t he think he can win one at Vanderbilt? That’s for him to decide. Who can blame him? It’s not about the money, as Vandy can match several offers.

Oddly enough, Vanderbilt OC John Donovan and DC Bob Shoop started following Penn State commits on Twitter. They have since started following Louisville commits, too.

  • I too, would like to see him stay at Vandy… What a great coach and what a great personality he is… The SEC will be a bit “poorer” if he chooses to move on…
