Tennessee WR Pig Howard taking leave of absence from team

NCAA Football: Tennessee at Missouri

Tennessee will open spring practice without one of its biggest playmakers in Alton ‘Pig’ Howard.

Butch Jones told TimesNews via text message that Howard is “dealing with some personal circumstances.” Jones confirmed that Howard is still enrolled in school.

Howard is a big piece to the Vols’ puzzle of getting things turned around. He caught 44 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns in 2013, which led the Vols in catches and touchdowns.

  • Sorry to hear this, Howard had a very good game at Missouri last year, hope that whatever those personal issues are allow him to return to a game I know must feel like an important part of his life.
