With the BCS era coming to a close, which teams exited the 16-year era with the best bowl winning percentage?

Georgia finished with the most bowl wins and the most bowl appearances with 16 and bowl wins with 11, and they’re the only major performer to have never won a BCS Championship.

Ole Miss exits the BCS era with the SEC’s highest bowl game winning percentage, having won eight games and only one loss. Tennessee is the only team to have won a BCS Championship and finish under .500 in total bowl winning percentage. That’s surprising. Florida barely finished above the .500 mark but won two championships.

Texas A&M exits the BCS era as the SEC’s worst bowl performer. The Aggies won only four of 12 games, and they were outscored by a total of 88 points.

I added “Points For” and “Points Against” to show margin.

  • Ole Miss has an overall bowl record of 23-12. So when it comes to bowl games, Ole Miss usually does pretty well.

    • UGA with most appearances and most wins. If only one of those was for a championship.

    • Yea and if Cutcliffe had realized that Eli Manning was actually good, then we would have been 9-0. Of course, he also is the same person that never once let Patrick Willis play.

      • I remember that bowl game against West Virginia. Eli was a freshman, but if he would have started that game against WV, Ole Miss would have won. Ole Miss has one of best winning percentages in bowl game in the entire country. It’s just about always a sure bet to bet on Ole Miss when they play in a bowl game. Doesn’t matter who they play, they just seem to always play well.

  • Footballs bounce funny sometimes…UGA in 2002 and 2007 probably had their best teams. A Terrence Edwards catch in Jax or a 2-loss LSU team kept UGA out of the BCS bowl those years. Championships take a little good luck to win usually.

  • I’mi starting to think there is something in the water in Georgia. Falcons = Good team no championship? Braves = Good Team 1 championship? Bulldogs = Good Team 1 championship? What’s going on? UGA has the talent year – in and year-out?
