SEC football: Early week 1 point spreads

Online sports book recently released offshore betting lines for six week one SEC games.

The premier line already listed is LSU and Wisconsin in Houston, and the Tigers are three-point favorites. If the Badgers can get by LSU, they have a cakewalk all the way into the Big Ten Championship Game. This could be an elimination game for Wisconsin. LSU is replacing key components on both sides of the ball, and it makes for one of the SEC’s most interesting teams in 2014.

Week one is highlighted by the first game on the SEC Network, pitting Texas A&M and South Carolina. The Aggies will enter a underdog, and 5Dimes has the Gamecocks a nine-point favorite.

Here are the early week one lines, according to 5Dimes:

LSU (-3) vs. Wisconsin
Alabama (-23.5) vs. West Virginia
Texas A&M at South Carolina (-9)
Ole Miss (-8.5) vs. Boise State
Temple at Vanderbilt (-21)
Utah State at Tennessee (-6.5)

  • I don’t think A&M will loose by more than a touchdown but I agree Spurrier will have them chasing his offense from the snap. LSU will roll Wisconsin in Houston with a stadium full of Tiger Alumn and Bama will win by 10, but they will have issues on offense. The sleeper team this year is Ole Miss. They could be really dangerous on both sides of the ball and Boise without its Coach will not be the same Boise. Tennessee and Vandy… who cares!

  • The 2 that stick out to me are the Tennessee & Bama lines. If I was a bettor, I’d jump all over that Tennessee & 6.5. Conversely, that 23.5 for Bama seems pretty high. If they can score, they’ll cover, but right now, I could see that being a 17-3 type game.
