South Carolina is coming off three straight 11-win seasons that involved zero trips to Atlanta. In fact, the Gamecocks have defeated the SEC East division winner the past three seasons but have found a way to lose a game they can’t afford to lose. Last year, it was Tennessee. Alabama, on the other hand, is a predominant favorite around the country for the College Football Playoff. With another loaded roster, the missing piece continues to be at quarterback, and the Tide hope FSU transfer Jacob Coker lives up to the hype. The SIDs are counting on him to be the real deal.

The Gamecocks received five first-place votes to top the East with 35 points. Alabama received five first-place votes for a total of 35 points, edging the Auburn Tigers, who had 32 total points.

Here’s a look at how the SIDs voted in the overall poll:

  • Auburn got a #9 vote, really?

  • Heh, please tell us that – like the coaches when they vote – you know which SID cast which vote. I think we’d all love to know who the #9 for Auburn came from in this poll.

  • I think a lot of ppl in the media and writers are going to look really stupid if they think A&M is going to have a good season. I don’t know what they see that would make them think A&M is going to be a good team. I think the reason LSU is getting a lot of votes is because of the name. Other than that they are gong to be relying on a new QB and wide receivers on offense and they have to replace a lot of production in the front seven.

  • nonetheless I think the chickens will represent the east. unless of course they get upset again. in that case I think Missouri schedule definitely allows us to be in the running.

  • Overall, the east should be stronger than the west this year, LSU and A&M lost a lot while UGA UF USC and Mizzu could easily win take the east this year.

Gotta keep in mind that this was written by and there is some bias in the poll. Like with AU and Mizzu’s random low rankings. I also wouldn’t be surprised if USC was up there to line up some fantasy revenge SECCG game for what happened in Columbia in 2010; Bama fans would love beating the only coach with a winning record vs Saban at Alabama.
