Several SEC players have decided against entering the NFL Draft

Eighteen SEC underclassmen have decided to enter the NFL Draft thus far, and more are on the way.

However, some notable players have decided against entering the draft for various reasons, with the biggest being their NFL Advisory Board draft grade and projection.

Six of the seven who have decided to return to school are defensive players, and I’m under the impression the league won’t play host to so many crazy games in 2014 and that defense will play a bigger part of the conference’s season.

Tennessee linebacker AJ Johnson is the most recent to say he’s returning, and that’s huge news for the Vols and Butch Jones.

Update: Reports indicate that LSU RB Jeremy Hill will return for another season.

Here are the eight notables who have said thanks, but no thanks to the NFL Draft thus far:

  • Trey DePriest, LB, Alabama
  • Reese Dismukes, C, Auburn
  • Bud Dupree, DE, Kentucky
  • Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas
  • Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU
  • AJ Johnson, LB, Tennessee
  • Za’Darius Smith, DE, Kentucky
  • Ramik Wilson, LB, Georgia
