SDS is continually counting down the top 25 players in the SEC for 2013, and we’re not stopping until we get to No. 1. I know you’ll agree with every single one…

No. 11 Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida (FR)

Why he’s No. 11: Feel free to call me Nostradamus. You could see Vernon Hargreaves’ talent in high school, and corner is a position at which recruits can have an instant impact, especially at a place like Florida.

Hargreaves played with corners Marcus Roberson and Louchiez Purifoy this season, and both will play in the NFL next season. But Hargreaves was the Gators’ best corner. In fact, he was the best corner in the SEC, a league that’s known for putting more defensive backs in the NFL than any other conference.

Florida’s season may have lacked a pulse, but Hargreaves’ game sure didn’t. He added 38 tackles and recorded team-highs in 11 pass breakups and three INTs. Hargreaves’ Island landed him on nearly every Freshmen All-American list, well as being All-SEC.

Will Muschamp likes taller corners, and Hargreaves doesn’t fit that mold. However, what he lacks in height, he makes up for with supreme cover skills and elite ball skills. Many corners around college football can cover the elite receivers, but Hargreaves can cover and react with incredible instincts and ball skills.

Hargreaves was the only freshman on the top 25 player countdown, and he has a bright, bright future at Florida.
