SDS is continually counting down the top 25 players in the SEC for 2013, and we’re not stopping until we get to No. 1. I know you’ll agree with every single one…
No. 21 Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss (JR)
2013 stats: 71 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 6 INTs, 7 breakups, 2 FF
Why he’s No. 21: Ole Miss’ last line of defense Cody Prewitt was a stat animal in 2013, leading the SEC with six INTs. Only six other players in college football had more, and only two of them played in BCS conferences. He was named an All-American for his huge season.
Outside of maybe Serderius Bryant, Cody Prewitt was the Rebels’ most valuable defender. He was all over the field, and he finished second on the Rebels’ defense with 71 tackles and led the team with seven pass breakups.
Yes, he has a nose for the football, but he’s also a run-stopping safety, and you will remember getting hit by Prewitt, because he brings the hammer. The best part about Prewitt? He’s returning for his senior season to a defense that will be loaded with playmakers at every level, with Prewitt being the best of the bunch.
