Did Todd Grantham attempt to troll Georgia with his first two tweets at Louisville?

NEW: Follow on facebook -

Louisville’s hiring of Todd Grantham became official today.

Georgia essentially traded Jeremy Pruitt for Todd Grantham. They both made the same amount of money ($850,000), but the universal thought is Georgia won the coaching carousel, because the Bulldogs virtually stole Pruitt – a major upgrade over his predecessor – away from FSU.

Grantham’s first two tweets as the Louisville defensive coordinator were certainly interesting, though, and he may have heard some of the celebration upon his departure out of Athens.

Grantham tweeted a photo of Louisville’s indoor practice facility, and he tweeted a photo of the strength and conditioning staff. It’s been long debated why Georgia doesn’t have a full-length indoor practice facility when largely every other university has one. Grantham also hashtagged #keephealthy, and we know Georgia’s season was marred by injuries.

Interesting, I’ll say. Trolling? Perhaps.

Updated: Upon Grantham’s official introduction at Louisville today, he said the defense was the backbone of winning the SEC East two of the last three years, via Athens-Banner Herald.

“Two of the last three years we’ve won the SEC East,” Grantham said. “We really have been the backbone of getting to those conference championships. I think the ability to see how we changed an identity and developed some mental toughness and physical toughness there and develop players.”

Maybe he forgot about his record-setting quarterback, or maybe he forgot about the most talented running back in college football.

  1. I think y’all are reading a little too deep into it. Plus, he wasn’t fired, (Richt doesn’t have the balls for that) he left on his own accord. Even if he is, who cares?

Richt fired Martnez din’t he? He also fired the strength coach a year or so back Special Teams coach also ( maybe should have replaced him) Just for the record. Grantham left on his own accord yes. But, he had to know his contract wasn’t gonna be re-newed. He got a 5 year deal at out Louisville that pressure to perform is less and level of opponents even in ACC is much less (see FSU sched). So Richt knew with 9 new starters the D finished about where projected. Which is why he wasn’t fired.

    • It would appear Matt is one of these “fire everyone” after a loss. The defense has been garbage even with NFL talent. Good riddance.

Nice Indoor practice facility Todd. Great pic of the S&C coaches Todd. Butt, Todd it’s Freaking Louisville !!!! Enjoy !

  3. Yeah, I think ol’ Grantham forgot about those times Aaron Murray had to bail his defense out when they couldn’t stop the opposing team from scoring.

    • I’m gonna have to agree with you there! Without Murray, & Carolina shooting themselves in the foot all 3 of those years, things would’ve been much different for y’all! Have to admit though, we’re sorry to see him go! No question there’s been incredible talent on the sidelines in Athens; not sure his “develop” troll was directed at, but no doubt he has a great deal of ownership in THAT quandary. I’m a bit perplexed by Pruitt’s movements tbh…he had it made where he was~we all know the acc sucks, fsu is stacked for the foreseeable future, & the ONLY team w an offense (until Petrino gets rolling) was clem5ux & they just lost the 2 most important components, which they rolled right over anyway. Maybe he knew the acc wouldn’t fair so well in playoffs, but it’s not as though he had to “work his way into” the sec…he left Bama of all places for there~go figure!?!? Y’all def won & we clearly would’ve preferred otherwise! Lol. Don’t want it to be true week 2, but hope he has them ready to go week 1, & y’all put a hurtin on clem5ux like he led fsu to do this past year! Lord PLEASE don’t give them reason to carry on about beating another sec team any time soon!!! And we’ll go handle business in auburn in exchange

  4. I honestly don’t see how this would be “trolling” and I’m beginning to think that a good amount of people don’t even get what that word actually means.

  5. Don’t know why Richt wouldn’t fire Grantham. The tweets only show that Grantham thinks too highly of himself and believes his own hype. He and Bobby deserve each other. Georgia got the best end of this deal by a longshot. He may can build a defense to win the conference there because he’s now longer in the SEC. If the Dawgs had to rely on defense to win a division championship the last couple of years they wouldn’t have done it. His defense couldn’t begin to stop any top teams.

UNTIL 2NITE, I HAVE NEVER FELT INCLINED TO REGISTER TO POST A COMMENT.

STAY CLASSY GRANTHAM. YOUR 1ST TWO TWEETS ARE THE EXACT REASON WHY YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED. GROW UP, YOU IDIOT.

I CAN LIVE WITH THE INDOOR FACILITY PICTURE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS
LOW CLASS AND JUVENILE, AND OBVIOUSLY DIRECTED AT YOUR FORMER EMPLOYER, BUT TO TAKE A PIC AND TYPE “STAY HEALTHY” THAT IS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR.

YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR INTENT WAS AND THE UGA FAMILY KNOWS IT TOO.
THATS WHY WE ARE GLAD YOU ARE SOMEONE ELSES PROBLEM NOW!

    HAVE A NICE LIFE, MORON.

  7. I don’t think Louisville realizes how bad there defense is going to be now that they have this idiot coaching them.

  8. had to register after reading this article and learning of the smugness Grantham is displaying instead of being grateful he was allowed to stay at UGA for as long as he was when the rest of us KNEW he should have been gone long ago. I hope he chokes on his words at the end of the 2014 season. What a complete poser! DAWGS RULE!!

    • Wellllllll lets see. No more Strong, so there goes their coach. QB is gone too I believe, correct me if I am wrong. Theyre joining a real conference…sooooooooo damn. looks to me like theyre gonna have a great time!

  9. What will be annoying is that his Louisville D will appear to be successful his first couple of years there because 1) they were coached well before he got there and 2) UL is in the ACC, so aside from a couple of good offenses, they won’t have to face much. Give it time, though, and I predict you will see a decline in his D’s stats and performance. Though I disagree with MATT1760 above, I think Petrino would fire Grantham at the drop of a dime, whereas Richt is much more patient.
