Dismissed UGA safety Tray Matthews transferring to Auburn

NCAA Football: Georgia at Auburn

Former Georgia safety Tray Matthews is officially transferring to Auburn.

Upon Matthews’ dismissal, he Tweeted he was looking at Louisville and Auburn, and the Tigers will be the destination, according to his Twitter account.

Matthews becomes the second SEC player to transfer to Auburn this offseason, as the Tigers also landed former touted Ole Miss offensive lineman Austin Golson.

Matthews was dismissed by Mark Richt after a classroom incident earlier this month, and he took just 11 days to commit to Auburn, who was originally one of the finalists for the former five-star prospect before signing with Georgia. He will be eligible to play in 2015 and will have to sit out this season. Matthews started six games last year and made 36 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.
