South Carolina trustees approved a $14.5 million upgrade for the area around Williams-Brice Stadium, which currently has the country’s longest home winning streak.
The vote was to swap the asphalt parking lots around the stadium with tree-lined brick walkways.
USC AD Ray Tanner said the current setting gives you an industrial feel, but fans will feel like they are in a garden in the future. Though no other upgrades are planned, Tanner also expressed interest in adding suites to the East side of the stadium to help generate more revenue.
As part of the upgrade, the northwest corner of the stadium will include an area for statues, and former Heisman winner George Rogers will likely have one.
You know who else should get one? Steve Spurrier. Spurrier would have one at Florida and South Carolina.
Work is scheduled to begin after the 2014 football season to be ready in time for the start of 2015.
