TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It’s simply a huge week for college football, beginning with Arizona at Oregon on Thursday night, which is one of five matchups of undefeated teams, but not one of six games between ranked opponents.

That list is dominated by the Southeastern Conference, including three Western Division showdowns as every team has between four and six games remaining against top 25 opponents.

No. 3 Alabama at No. 11 Ole Miss
No. 4 Oklahoma at No. 25 TCU
No. 15 LSU at No. 5 Auburn
No. 6 Texas A&M at No. 12 Mississippi State
No. 14 Stanford at No. 9 Notre Dame
No. 19 Nebraska at No. 10 Michigan State

Ole Miss (4-0) has had this game circled since last year’s 25-0 loss at Bryant-Denny Stadium, which sent the Rebels into a three-game spin. This is the first ranked opponent for both teams this season, but Mississippi is playing the respect card.

In his third year, Hugh Freeze has gone 2-8 in games against ranked teams, edging No. 25 Mississippi State in the 2012 Egg Bowl, 41-24, and beating No. 6 LSU last year, 27-24.

Meanwhile, since 2008 Alabama under Nick Saban is 26-9 (.743) against the Associated Press top 25, and 16-5 (.762) mark against top-10 teams. It was 3-0 last year until stumbling against Auburn and Oklahoma, and 5-1 in 2012.

It’s also 8-3 at the other team’s home venue.

Overall, Alabama has won 10 straight against Ole Miss, and leads the series 47-9-2.
