But Alabama received eight first-place votes on Sunday, two more than last week.

The Crimson Tide strengthened its bid after a 29-13 road victory over Auburn in the annual Iron Bowl. Clemson held off South Carolina 37-32.

The Tide’s victory secured the SEC West Division title and sent them to the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 5 against Florida.

The Tide (11-1, 7-1 SEC) have won nine consecutive games since its turnover-fueled loss to Ole Miss.

That loss in Week 3 dropped Alabama to No. 12 in the AP Poll.

Alabama has been ranked No. 2 in each of the past three College Football Playoff polls.

The next playoff poll will be released Tuesday (7 p.m., Eastern, ESPN).

The Final Four will be revealed at noon Dec. 6 on ESPN.
