KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — By scoring on the University of Alabama’s first snap of the game at Tennessee, on an 80-yard touchdown, junior wide receiver Amari Cooper quickly put himself on pace for another record-setting night.

At halftime he had 194 yards on six catches and two touchdowns, which was already the fifth-most receiving yards in a single game in Crimson Tide history.

It’s the seventh time that Cooper notched 100 yards in a game this season and he went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. At halftime he had 66 receptions for 1,102 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Alabama single-season records are 78 and 1,133 (Julio Jones in 2010) and 11 (Cooper in 2012).

It put him on the doorstep of the top 25 receiving seasons in Southeastern Conference history.
