TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Walter Camp Foundation, which had representatives at the University of Alabama’s game on Saturday against Florida, has named senior quarterback Blake Sims its offensive player of the week.

Sims completed 23 of 33 passes for 445 yards and four touchdowns as No. 3 Alabama pulled off a convincing 42-21 victory. He also had an interception and lost fumble along with 12 rushing yards.

It was the most passing yards by an Alabama quarterback at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and the second most in program history. He tied the Crimson Tide record for total yards.

Sims is the eighth Alabama player to earn Walter Camp player of the week honors since 2004, but the first Crimson Tide quarterback to be recognized.

East Carolina linebacker Zeek Bigger was named the organization’s defensive player of the week. He had 17 tackles (seven solo) and returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown to help lead a 70-41 victory over North Carolina, 70-41.
