For all its success in the SEC through the years, it wasn’t until the start of the ongoing Nick Saban era that Alabama became known for the talent it produces into the NFL.

The Tide claim seven alumni in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks who combined to win the first three Super Bowls in history (Bart Starr and Joe Namath).

But beyond those seven stars, the Tide claims a number of other prominent NFL alumni as its own. Shaun Alexander once set an NFL record for rushing touchdowns in a single season; Chris Samuels started at left tackle for the Redskins for a decade when the NFC East was at the pinnacle of the NFL; Dwight Stephenson was a four-time first-team All-Pro selection, and Lee Roy Jordan still ranks among the top-10 Cowboys ever in terms of career tackles.

Alabama’s all-time all-NFL team may look a lot different in 10 years’ time after many of Saban’s best players have a chance to better establish themselves in the league. Right now, only two former Saban players cracked the team (Julio Jones and Marcel Dareus), but that number could rise to as many as 10 players as Saban continues to operate his NFL factory in Tuscaloosa.

It’s also worth noting that Alabama was stacked at a few positions, namely quarterback (three Super Bowl winners, four titles between them, two Hall of Famers) and linebacker (four players with at least one first-team All-Pro honor), and thin at a few other positions, like fullback and defensive back.

Nevertheless, few colleges in the NCAA claim an all-NFL alumni team the caliber of Alabama’s. Check out who made the cut below, and which players from those loaded positions were left off our team:
