As currently constituted, Bovada has No. 1 Alabama as a 17-point favorite over No. 4 Washington in one of the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

It’s presumed by many that the Crimson Tide will roll to their fifth title in eight years.

Billed as the new kids on the block, the inexperienced Huskies’ program has been completely transformed in a short period of time by head coach Chris Petersen. In this game, he’ll likely have to out-scheme one of the best coaches in the history of the sport.

When asked about Alabama on Tuesday, Petersen had this to say:

Now, Petersen is an exceptionally smart and shrewd individual. There’s no doubt he’s been sincere when lauding the talent on Alabama’s roster.

However, this self-proclaimed “David versus Goliath” narrative has served Petersen well in the past. He reveled in these scenarios when he was the head coach at Boise State.

While it’s far from a certainty that Washington will win this contest, Petersen may like being in the role of the underdog — and could play it up even further as the game gets closer.
