TUSCALOOSA, Ala. _ After the opening week of the college football season, the University of Alabama’s schedule is suddenly looking a little tougher.

Although the Crimson Tide remained second in both polls after its 33-23 victory over West Virginia at the Georgia Dome, many of its opponents moved up with all four now in the top 15.

Texas A&M made the biggest jump after its impressive 52-28 blowout at South Carolina, from No. 21 to No. 13 in the Amway coaches’ poll and No. 9 in the AP. Following its 28-24 comeback against Wisconsin, LSU moved up from No. 13 to No. 12 in both polls.

Alabama will host No. 5 Auburn and visit No. 15 Ole Miss this season (No. 19 coaches).

Florida, which had its game against Idaho suspended due to unsafe field conditions following heavy rain, and Mississippi State received votes and were just out of the top 25.

It’s the 101st consecutive Associated Press poll to include the Crimson Tide.

Alabama did lose votes in both polls, tallying 1,432 points in the coaches’ poll, down from 1,455 in the preseason poll, while No. 3 Oklahoma had 1,407. In the AP poll the drop was from to 1,317, to barely edge Oregon at 1,314.

It again received one first-place vote in the AP poll.

The playoff selection committee will issue its first rankings on Oct. 28.

Alabama will host Florida Atlantic at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday at noon (ET, SEC Network).
