'Finebaum' compares Hurts to past Heisman winner
Alabama QB Jalen Hurts has now made seven starts in his freshman season.
On Monday, “The Paul Finebaum Show” decided to blindly compare his numbers to a past SEC freshman quarterback. The show’s viewers and Twitter followers were shown a pair of similar stats.

It was then revealed who the stats belonged to:

Player B = Johnny Manziel pic.twitter.com/pLlNhl9JgR— Paul Finebaum (@finebaum) October 24, 2016
Manziel, of course, went on to win the Heisman Trophy that season (2012). He was the first freshman to win the award, albeit as a redshirt freshman. Hurts is putting up his numbers, which are in the same ballpark though they don’t quite stack up 1-to-1, as a true freshman.
If Hurts continues to put up Manziel-like numbers, his Heisman candidacy could lead to a New York City invite.
