NFL teams must trim their preseason rosters to 75 players by Tuesday afternoon, meaning a lot of players will become free agents in the process.

Former Alabama quarterback Jake Coker is one such player. Coker was waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday as the team moves towards its 75-man roster. The quarterback was waived with an injured designation, meaning he could be placed on the team’s injured reserve list or given a settlement if no other team claims him within a 24-hour period.

“He was fine,” coach Bruce Arians said of Coker earlier this spring. “Nerves get a lot of the guys, not being in sync footwork-wise. … The interceptions didn’t bother me. He was going to the right spots on the field and he’s a big, strong kid who seems to be pretty bright.”

As a senior, Coker helped lead Alabama to its fourth national title under Nick Saban while completing 67 percent of his passes and throwing for 3,110 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was signed as a free agent by the Cardinals on April 30.
