New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is currently halfway through his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

However, the former Alabama Heisman winner is staying in shape during his suspension, and he’s relying on the “Alabama family” to do it.

According to ESPN, Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin — the former Alabama offensive coordinator — has been helping Ingram work out recently:

“He wasn’t allowed to practice with our team because of the new NCAA rules against that, but when we were done, we padded him up and put him through a workout, me and [FAU running backs coach] Kevin Smith,” Kiffin told ESPN. “He got after it and wants to make sure he’s ready to go and in football shape when he gets back with the Saints.

“It’s the least I could do. We’re both part of the Alabama family.”

Ingram and Kiffin weren’t at Alabama at the same time, but clearly there’s a friendship and a fraternity there that comes in handy.

It also doesn’t hurt Kiffin to have an NFL star at his facility, even if Ingram can’t actually practice with the Owls.
