TUSCALOOSA, Ala. _ Since it essentially wears the same colors, West Virginia may want to pretend to be UCLA and change all the signs at the Georgia Dome when it faces Alabama on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN2).

Over the past 15 years, the Bruins are the only program in college football to win a season opener against Alabama. They actually did it twice, in 2000 and 2001 as part of a home-and-home series.

The Crimson Tide hasn’t lost a neutral-site season opener since 1958 vs. LSU in Mobile — Paul W. “Bear” Bryant’s first game coaching the Crimson Tide, which lost 13-3 to the eventual national champions.

Overall, Alabama has played its season opener in 19 different cities, with this being the fourth at the Georgia Dome. It defeated Clemson 34-10 in 2008, West Virginia 34-24 in 2009, and the Hokies again last year, 35-10.

Overall, Nick Saban is 7-0 in openers with the Crimson Tide. He’s hasn’t been on the losing side of one since 2006 when the Miami Dolphins lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and 2at the collegiate level 2002 (LSU vs. Virginia Tech).
