With Steve Sarkisian unexpectedly leaving for the Atlanta Falcons, Alabama has been searching for his next offensive coordinator.

After meeting with former Houston Texans OC George Godsey, head coach Nick Saban then decided to target Oklahoma State assistant coach Mike Yurcich.

According to GoPokes (OSU’s Scout.com site), Saban called Yurcich to gauge his interest on the vacant offensive coordinator job — and even perhaps offering it to him.

Per the sources at GoPokes, Yurcich decided to not pursue anything with the job in Tuscaloosa, and will instead stay in Stillwater.

At this point, it isn’t known as to where Alabama will turn next. Saban hasn’t been afraid to think out-of-the-box — as evidenced by the hirings of both Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin. With the personnel returning to Alabama in 2017 (Jalen Hurts, Calvin Ridley, Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris, Trevon Diggs), the eventual choice will have plenty to work with.
