Former Alabama safety Nick Perry’s chances of playing in the NFL for the 2016 did not look great after being cut from the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad in May, but he’s getting another opportunity.

Perry originally joined Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2015. The Ravens were high on Perry, believing they had found a potential “gem” in an undervalued safety.

“He’s going to be one of those freeagent guys that are going to have a future in this league,” Ravens Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees said in August 2015.

He took notice of two quality attributes displayed by Perry.

“(Perry) is a typical prodigy of Nick Saban,” Pees said. “He is a defensive back that’s tough and smart, and he does a great job back there.”

If Perry becomes an official member of the Eagles, he will be on the 90-man roster for training camp, which begins Monday. The team’s final 53-man roster will be named in September prior to the start of the regular season.
