Alabama’s chances of making the College Football Playoff decreased when it lost to LSU. The odds dropped even lower after Tua Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending hip injury.

However, not everybody thinks the Crimson Tide are done just yet.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” on Friday, former Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow said he still thinks Alabama would be deserving of a spot in the CFP with a win at Auburn in its regular-season finale.

“If Mac Jones can step up, get some playing time under his belt this weekend and then go to Jordan-Hare and beat Auburn, a really good team and a great defense, and if they’re able to win that game by 10, 14 points and dominate,” Tebow said on the show, “and then the argument comes down to Alabama vs. an Oregon, if Oregon wins the Pac-12 championship, then me personally, I would look at what happened on the field — Alabama beating Auburn at their home at the end of the year, and I would give the nod over an Oregon team losing to a freshman quarterback in his first game on a neutral field.”

However, Tebow doesn’t think the CFP selection committee will have the same thought process. In fact, he’s hearing as such, too.

“I think the committee wants a conference championship to get in,” Tebow said. “That’s just what I’m hearing, and I think that would probably be the way it would go. But I still think Alabama has a chance.”

Before Alabama’s crucial game at Auburn, the Crimson Tide will host Western Carolina in their home finale on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
