The long wait is finally over for Alabama fans. Freshmen Najee Harris, Tua Tagovailoa, and Mac Jones are finally on the football field wearing Crimson Tide jerseys.

Arguably the three most noteworthy offensive additions to the roster this offseason for the Crimson Tide, all could potentially see playing time this fall. First is Harris, while coming into a loaded backfield in Tuscaloosa, the California native has been favorably compared to generational running back Adrian Peterson. If Harris lives up to that hype, he will be impossible to keep him off the field — you may recall Peterson rushed for nearly 2,000 yards as a true freshman in 2004 for an Oklahoma team that ranked among the best teams in that nation that season.

As for the quarterbacks, one of them will be forced to step up immediately and likely backup incumbent starter Jalen Hurts. While the Hawaiian native Tua Tagovailoa has received the vast majority of the hype between the two true freshmen, it would be unwise to discount the contribution Mac Jones could make for the Tide as soon as this season. After all, recruiting rankings for quarterbacks are notoriously hit-or-miss, unlike any other position in sports.

Here’s what head coach Nick Saban had to say about them both during his introductory spring press conference Tuesday evening.

“The other two guys that are freshmen, they are going to have to grow into being adequate backups by the fall,” Saban said. “This is the least amount of experience we’ve ever had at quarterback, regardless of having the starter back, but I like all the guys. I like their attitude and I think they all three have a lot of potential to be really good players.”
