Alabama senior DL Jonathan Allen has been a beast for the Crimson Tide in 2016 and had his efforts recognized on Thursday night when he won the Bednarik Trophy, given annually to the best defensive player in college football.

As Allen prepares to play on Sundays, the Crimson Tide will have a big hole to fill on their defensive line. However, Allen told AL.com he thinks the unit will be just fine, naming a freshman he thinks can become the Tide’s next star:

“Quinnen Williams,” Allen said confidently. “That’s the guy you need to know. He’s going to be a baller. He’s going to be a beast.”

Williams, a four-star defensive tackle from the 2016 recruiting class, has impressed Allen, who said the freshman works really hard in practice:

“Just tenacity,” Allen said. “Just toughness. Just gritty. Just mean. He’s going to be good.”

The best news for Alabama fans? Williams hasn’t played yet this season and is expected to redshirt. That means he could theoretically be in Tuscaloosa for four more years to anchor a talented Alabama defense.
