Well, no one can say the Arkansas Razorbacks didn’t have chances to put up some runs against Florida State in their first game at the College World Series in Omaha.

The Hogs had runners on third base in three different innings, with two of those situations coming with less than two outs. However, they managed exactly zero runs in a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Seminoles on Saturday night.

The Seminoles scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning, and then closer J.C. Flowers came in and slammed the door on the Hogs to pick up the save.

Flowers also had a nice catch at the wall in center field to stop a Razorbacks’ threat earlier in the game. Starting FSU pitcher Drew Parrish threw eight scoreless innings, striking out nine Razorback hitters and allowing only five hits to pick up the win.

For the Hogs, LF Christian Franklin went 2-for-3 to lead them at the plate. He was the only Arkansas player to have more than one hit.

The Razorbacks aren’t done yet, of course. This part of the College World Series is a double-elimination bracket, so the Hogs will play Texas Tech in an elimination game on Monday. That game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN.
