Ever since Bret Bielema was hired by Arkansas, he’s been changing the culture of the program and building his team from the inside out.

Line of scrimmage play has followed Bielema everywhere he’s been, and that surely hasn’t changed at Arkansas. His love for offensive linemen has been well publicized and professed.

While Bielema’s impact (and that of his coaching staff) has been obvious, strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert, who followed Bielema from Wisconsin, has had a major impact in developing players. Herbert helped build Arkansas to have the biggest offensive line at any level of football. The Hogs combined to weigh 1,642 pounds in 2014, and the starting five out-weighted NFL lines by an average of four pounds per player. Arkansas boasted the only offensive line to pave the way for two 1,000-yard rushers, and the unit gave up the fewest sacks in the SEC.

Offensive line coach Sam Pittman deserves much of the credit, too, but a great strength and conditioning coach is invaluable to a program.

Here’s an informative video on Herbert:

Herbert was at it again Thursday night at Razorback Stadium, as the players piled in for a late-night squat session. Here are some of the photos shared on Twitter:

Even though it was a late night for the Hogs’ players, they were back at it again for a recovery session this morning at 5:00 a.m.
