Arkansas coach Chad Morris revealed good news for his team on Tuesday.

Morris announced that tight end Jeremy Patton’s injury is not serious. Patton sustained a left leg bruise during Monday’s practice, and Morris told the media, including 247sports, that he expects the tight end to return in the next “week or so.”

Patton left practice on Monday and later returned in a walking boot. Morris said that Patton used crutches on Monday, but no longer needed them on Tuesday. Morris added that Patton said it felt like somebody kicked him on the back of the leg and that his ankle now feels fine.

This is positive news for the Razorbacks’ offense, as Patton developed into a starter a season ago and could have an even bigger role this year.

After transferring from Arizona Western College, Patton played in 11 games and made six starts during his first season at Arkansas in 2017. He caught 11 passes for 189 yards.

Patton, a senior, is expected to start at tight end for the Razorbacks in their first season under Morris.

With this positive development, Patton should be ready to play when Arkansas opens its season against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 1.
