Ty Storey may not have been the choice for Chad Morris and his Arkansas staff to start the season but by the midway point for their first campaign on the Hill, it’s clear the redshirt junior is the best option for the Razorbacks to win on the field this year.

While that’s the good news, the bad news is Storey’s status is still somewhat up in the air as Arkansas enters the upcoming homecoming game against Tulsa. The Razorbacks were on their way to crushing Ole Miss last weekend in Little Rock with Storey in the game, but once he went down, things changed in a hurry on the field.

Things continue to progress in the right direction for Story, as he’s practiced all week, but Morris has been somewhat coy regarding his quarterback’s status entering the Tulsa. Here’s what the Arkansas coach had to say regarding Storey following the team’s Wednesday practice.

“He’s out here again today and cleared for practice for today, and it’s pretty much day-to-day right now with him and seeing how he feels,” Morris said.

It wasn’t long before Morris was asked a follow-up on Storey regarding what the QB can do to get ready for the game, with his status officially still undecided at the midway point of game week.

“Yeah, he – as he is every week – in the film room with us and down doing treatment and coming out here and doing practice and just seeing how he feels,” Morris added. “It’s just a day-to-day… day-to-day thing with him (right now following his injury).”

On the season, Storey has completed 57 percent of his passes for 983 yards, seven touchdowns and has five interceptions. He’s also added 177 rushing yards and a score. While those numbers won’t jump out at you, Storey has completed over 69 percent of his passes for 352 yards, three touchdowns and only one interception against Alabama and Ole Miss over the previous two weeks.

With Morris’ offensive system beginning to show signs of life in Fayetteville, losing the quarterback that appears to have the system grasped the best at the moment would be a step back with two winnable games coming up in back-to-back weekends.
