Luke Jones is coming home.

The former Notre Dame offensive lineman announced Thursday he plans on continuing his playing career at Arkansas. Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly confirmed Jones’ decision to leave the program during spring practice but was not aware of where Jones would continue his playing career.

“He’s seeking a transfer,” Kelly said earlier this month. “We met earlier this week, and he feels like Notre Dame is not the best place for him.”

Now we officially know that the Little Rock native is a Razorback as he announced his decision by releasing the following message on Twitter:

“I would like to thank the University of Notre Dame for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college football. However, I have decided to transfer and play football for the University of Arkansas. I will be enrolling in the summer and am excited for this new chapter in my life! WPS”

Jones redshirted his only season at Notre Dame and will have to sit out the 2019 season unless the NCAA provides him a waiver to play immediately next season.

The former Pulaski Academy player was ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect from Arkansas in the 2018 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was listed as a three-star prospect and chose Notre Dame over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Arkansas State and Arizona State, among others.
