Nick Starkel is a big Justin Bieber fan, and a special T-shirt was one of his prized possessions. He once tweeted to Ellen DeGeneres about hoping to meet Bieber, an artist whose songs he often lip syncs.

But following a disastrous performance on Saturday against San Jose State, where Starkel threw five interceptions on top of three touchdowns and 356 yards on 28-for-50 passing, he’s made a serious move. Two of the picks came inside the San Jose State 20-yard line, and much of the damage came when Arkansas trailed 24-7. The 31-24 decision was San Jose State’s first win over a power conference opponent since 2006.

Obviously frustrated, coach Chad Morris said the team’s performance was “completely unacceptable” and you get what you deserve in life.

After the game, Starkel tweeted that he let everyone around him down, and, “I promise that we will respond.” Then he tweeted, the “Bieber shirt has been ripped in half and thrown away. No more nonsense. No more distractions. All I’m focusing on is this team and this season. Nothing else.”

Starkel and the Razorbacks responded with late scores, but it wasn’t enough as they were booed off the field.

They return to action against Texas A&M this week.
