The defensive transition at Arkansas under new defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads looks to continue without line coach Rory Segrest on staff. With former defensive coordinator Robb Smith moving on to Minnesota, head coach Bret Bielema has been very public in discussing the possibility of shifting to more 3-4 looks on defense.

According to sources of Bo Mattingly, the Razorbacks are planning to bring in a new defensive line coach in order to help the team’s adjustment to more 3-4 defensive looks.

Segrest has served as the team’s defensive line coach since 2014. Any movement should not be seen as a surprise, as Arkansas allowed more rushing touchdowns (39!) than any program in the nation in 2016. For reference to one of the team’s better defenses, the Razorbacks unit surrendered only 11 rushing touchdowns in 2014.

Adding extra credence to this report, Football Scoop suggested that moves would be coming for Bielema Thursday morning.
