The injury bug has struck in Fayetteville.

During his most recent media availability, Chad Morris offered up the latest injury update on his Razorback team and announced his receiving corps is currently resembling a MASH unit.

The most significant update involved Deon Stewart, the program’s only scholarship senior receiver. According to Morris, Stewart is out for the season but there is hope the senior will return for a sixth season on The Hill.

“Deon Stewart will be out, unfortunately, with a torn ACL,” Morris revealed. “Something we — when he went down Saturday, we didn’t think much of it, we thought it was something minor and we went in that afternoon for an MRI. It’s unfortunate for him. A great young man, a great leader, will definitely be missed. He will be missed, but he will be back stronger than ever. We will go after his sixth year of eligibility, that’s something that we will apply for. Hate that for him, just an unbelievable young man.”

In addition to the loss of Stewart, junior Jordan Jones has also recently suffered an injury that will sideline him heading into the season.

“Jordan Jones will be out somewhere between two to three, maybe four weeks at the very, very longest, with a high ankle sprain — much like Eric Gregory. Eric will be back here in the next week. He had the same procedure done, had minor surgery done today, hopefully, we can get him back sooner rather than later.”

Jones played in every game for the Razorbacks last season, catching 17 passes for 191 yards and a single touchdown.

With the veterans dropping like flies in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks will be forced to lean on the program’s young receivers even more than anticipated to start the season. The bad news there? Trey Knox was missing in action during the team’s latest practice.

Before Razorback fans lose it, there’s no need for concern there, as Morris said Knox has not been injured.

“Trey Knox was out today, he was sick, he should be back in tomorrow,” Morris thankfully added.
