Saturday was the final NFL cut-down day as teams finalizing their 53-man rosters. The NFL season starts Thursday night with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks hosting the Green Bay Packers.

A total of 24 former Auburn Tigers survived Saturday’s final cuts. When rookie mini-camps first opened in May, there were 32 former Tigers trying to make a roster spot.

A majority of the NFL Tigers will be found on the defensive side of the ball. There are five linebackers, four defensive tackles and four cornerbacks. The St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders each have three Auburn players.

In May’s NFL Draft four Tigers were selected: offensive tackle Greg Robinson (1st round, 2nd overall), defensive end Dee Ford (1st round, 24th overall), running back Tre Mason (3rd round, 75th overall) and fullback Jay Prosch (6th round).

Kicker Cody Parkey made the Eagles roster as an undrafted signee. Parkey signed with the Colts in May and was traded to Philadelphia for running back David Fluellen on Aug. 20.
