Star defensive end Carl Lawson is still working his way back from the torn ACL that sidelined him for the entirety of Auburn’s 2014 season.

He suited up in the Tigers’ first spring practice on Tuesday, and did so again on Thursday, but he only participated in about 50 percent of drills, according to AL.com.

The same article reports that Lawson may be limited in drills for the remainder of the spring.

Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp spoke to the media following practice, and he addressed Lawson’s return and his workload in spring ball.

“We’re going to really monitor him and watch his reps through spring practice,” Muschamp told AL.com. “But I’ve been extremely pleased, first of all, with his leadership ability and how he positively affects the guys around him. He plays extremely hard.

“Football’s very important to him,” Muschamp added. “He’s in the film room all the time, he’s asking questions constantly. He’s texting me all the time about questions about what we’re doing within our scheme and system. He’s the right guy to coach.”
