Move over, LSU, Florida, and Tennessee, one analyst thinks that Auburn is the most interesting team in the SEC this year, and two of their conference games could have College Football Playoff implications.

According to a piece written by Aaron Torres of FOX Sports, two of the eight biggest conference games next season will be in the SEC – and both will feature the Auburn Tigers.

No. 2 – Alabama at Auburn: Nov. 25

No. 8 – Georgia at Auburn: Nov. 11

Though the Iron Bowl is always an intriguing matchup (even when it’s Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III vs the Tide defense), this year’s matchup feels like it already carries some extra hype. The reason is simple: Auburn looks to have finally found a quarterback in the form of Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham.

The inclusion of the Iron Bowl on one of these lists is often expected, the fact that its listed so high with respect to games that could have CFP implications means that Torres is buying the Auburn hype. The Tigers could only afford a maximum of two losses coming into their finale with the Tide to be considered contenders – and that’s if Alabama stumbles early as well.

The Georgia Bulldogs are another intriguing case in the SEC, as this mid-November game should pit two budding quarterbacks up against each other in what will likely be a ranked matchup. With Auburn’s Gus Malzhan looking to avoid another disappointing season, and Georgia’s Kirby Smart looking to build legitimacy in his second year, both coaches will have a lot on the line in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

Another interesting subplot to consider for Auburn, and particularly Malzahn, heading into 2017, the Tigers have failed to win each of the last three games against the school’s biggest two rivals. Should that drought extend to four seasons, there likely won’t be a fifth attempt for the current Auburn head coach in 2018.
