Coaches will go to any length to stand out when recruiting potential prospects but oftentimes its the lure of fellow prospects that have the most impact in recruiting. That could very well be the case yet again for Auburn this year as top guard prospect Nick Brahms is not only being pitched to commit to the overall class but to join arguably the best two high school tackles in the country.

Rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 3 offensive guard in the nation by 247Sports, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound Brahms recently broke down the latest in his recruitment in a YouTube video posted by AL.com. According to the Brahms, the Tigers are looking good to secure his commitment.

“I love Auburn,” Brahms said. “I’m going to make a decision pretty soon in the next couple of weeks. I like the future at Auburn. Coach Malzahn, I think he has a good plan. (Offensive line) coach (Herb) Hand, he’s a good coach. All of the coaches are good. He’s a good coach. He really is. He’s really technique-driven and stuff. He’s a good coach.”

But what could push the Tigers over the top with Brahms isn’t the coaching staff, it’s the offensive linemen already committed to the 2017 class. Auburn already has commitments from five-star Calvin Ashley and four-star Austin Troxell – both tackle prospects.

“They’re pushing it,” Brahms said. “They’re telling me to come on board. I’d love to play next to those two.”

Brahms is also considering Tennessee and North Carolina and indicated he could announce his commitment in early July during The Opening Finals held at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. If Brahms joins the Tigers’ class, new offensive line coach Hand could be working with the nation’s best incoming crop of offensive linemen next offseason.

Looks like Malzahn’s decision to hire a new line coach is already paying off for the Tigers.
