Freshman wideout Stanton Truitt underwent season-ending shoulder surgery, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said in his weekly news conference on Tuesday.

Truitt’s redshirt was burned against Louisiana Tech. He played in two games, catching two passes for 13 yards.

“Stanton Truitt had to have surgery, and he will be out for the year,” Malzahn told reporters. “That’s a guy that was coming on, played well, hurt his shoulder. We just wanted to do the right thing and get it fixed.”

Auburn will apply for a medical redshirt for Truitt, AL.com reports. By playing in just two games, Truitt will be under the required threshold required to gain a medical redshirt.
