If you follow recruiting, you’re probably familiar with Nike’s “The Opening” competition camp. High school players from around the country take part in regional “Opening” camps throughout the spring in hopes of working with expert coaches like former NFL QB Trent Dilfer in a national camp at Nike’s headquarters in Oregon.

Auburn WR Kyle Davis, a former 7-on-7 MVP at last year’s “Opening,” jokingly tweeted Monday that he would like another camp invite. The response from Dilfer should excite Auburn fans.

Dilfer coaches Elite 11 quarterbacks, which also gives out invites at the regional camps, and “The Opening” 7-on-7 football. It’s especially high praise since Dilfer has been involved with the camps since 2010, working with many of the most talented prospects from the last seven recruiting classes.

Davis, who was limited in spring practice and missed A-Day due to shoulder surgery, is unlikely to be expected to step into a leadership role as a true freshman, but his competitive temperament bodes well for his chance at winning a starting job in a talented Auburn receiving corps. The Lawrencevile, Ga. product was a highly coveted four-star recruit, rated the No. 9 wide receiver and No. 9 Georgia prospect in the 2016 class by 247Sports’ composite.
