Chesapeake safety Devon Hunter, a 2017 four-star prospect, had been planning to take an official visit to Auburn this weekend. Those plans appear to have changed.

According to reports, the 2017 U.S. Army All-American recruit from Virginia has canceled that visit and will make his college announcement on Friday:

That obviously doesn’t bode well for Gus Malzahn and the Tigers, who could have used the talented safety in the secondary.

According to the 247Sports composite, Hunter is the No. 3 safety in the class of 2017 and the No. 2 overall recruit from the state of Virginia.

Hunter is also being recruited by Virginia Tech, Alabama, Florida and North Carolina, among other schools. All 28 of his 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions going to the Hokies.
