“He’s a young guy and he’s going to be fine.”

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn didn’t have much to say Wednesday when asked about Byron Cowart’s recent Twitter outburst. Short and to the point, Malzahn attributed Cowart’s complaints to a rookie who was frustrated during camp, not knowing how to control his anger.

“He’s going to be a very good player for us, Malzahn said. “He’s a young guy that will learn.”

Cowart was the nation’s top-ranked defensive player in the 2015 class. Following Saturday’s scrimmage, he wrote this on Twitter before quickly deleting the comments and later apologizing.

“Being penalized because I was number 1 player but I’m struggling I don’t care about the stars. So why when I struggle its thrown in my face

“How about help me huh? I cam in humble ready to learn man not bragging and flashy. I just wanna learn”

Many have said Cowart’s struggles are associated with being asked to work harder with the Tigers, more than what he’s used to at the prep level. Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp’s recent comments reflect that mindset.

“It’s a culture shock, when you come to a situation and you get coached hard,” Muschamp said, via AL.com. ” It’s a little different than your recruiting process.”

It sounds like Cowart’s just coping with no longer being the big man on campus who is being forced to earn his spot on the two-deep.
